We are a busy, bustling Hall and that’s the way we like it! We would like to continue providing a safe, warm and adaptable space for use by all for many years to come.
The Hall is run by a Committee, a Hall Manager and an Arts Programme Manager. Many of the events in our Arts Programme (and the Programme Manager’s post) are supported by grant assistance from Creative Scotland and The Craignish Trust. But for the rest, we rely on hall hires, fundraisers and donations to keep the Hall open and operational. From January – November 2019, the committee and other volunteers from the community have worked a total of over 550 volunteer hours!! A huge amount of effort goes on behind the scenes and we are so grateful to everyone.
Crucially, over the next coming months, we need urgent financial help to replace our heating system which is broken. While we investigate different possibilities, we are running an emergency heating system off our gas supply which is costly and not a long term solution. Our floor in Hall 1 also needs maintenance so we will be developing a fundraising calendar and looking at grants to help us cover the cost for this.

To know more about where our income comes from and what we spend it on, here are the latest figures from our end of year report for this financial year (2018-2019).
When the pre-school moved from the hall to its new premises in 2017, it was a loss of £6,000 a year income for us and we have had to work really hard to find that income from somewhere else. This year, we decided to invest in a major upgrade of our kitchen so that we could better cater to large events such as weddings and conferences. We can now offer 140 covers and we have a new commercial dish washer to help us clean it all up! We also created a temporary post of Admin Assistant to free up time for the Hall Manager to investigate new sources of income. This increased our overall costs for this year but we believe that it was an investment worth making in order to maintain the sustainability of the Hall in the long term. Over the next few months, we will be putting together an exciting fundraising calendar for the year (watch this space!), as well as looking into other revenue streams.
